Four months is inexcusable, but various things have given me less incentive to update than in times past. The Conventions page has been updated, but that is all for the moment I think...

I've been very lax of late, for which I apologise. Leprecon came and went. It was fun, but the con does need to raise it's game for next year to get more people through the door. So this weekend we have not one, but two conventions on either side of the country. Dominicon 2005 is on in Maynooth and Itzacon Eire is on in Galway. Both cons run from Friday 11th until Sunday 13th of March and both of them look great. Hopefully there are enough con going gamers in the country to attend both.

Quick clarification, CONFESS is on the 24th and 25th of September 2005. It's still on in the Clarion Hotel.

One con over, many more to go. Irish gaming is kinda cool that way! Warpcon was a great weekend, but hopefully the lessons learned from this year's organisation issues will carry on into the future.
The various flyers around the con largely confirmed the dates for all the events we're aware of so far this year, but CONFESS recently annouced that it will be happening again in 2005. The con will be taking place in the Clarion Hotel in Sligo over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of September 2005. As per usual our Convention Calendar has been updated with this info.

As a quick reminder to you all, Warpcon is on this coming weekend in University College, Cork. Despite the lack of information leading up to the event the organisers do seem to have got things in order and it's shaping up to be a great weekend.
The other point of note is that a meeting is being organised in Durrow to discuss the present and future of Irish Gaming. The meeting is set for the 5th of February in the Castle Arms Hotel and is open to all.

The most important news at the moment is that Trinity Gamers have annouced the dates for Leprecon XXVI (or 26 as they seem to insist on calling it). The con will take place in the Goldsmith Hall in Trinity College, Dublin on the 25th - 27th of February 2005. More details will, I have no doubt, appear on their website when it goes live on the 1st of January.
In other news, in case I forget to say it, a Merry Christmas to all of you from Gameeire!.

Ah, perhaps a little long inbetween updates, for which I apologise. As we enter into December big organised events are a little thin on the ground as everyone is saving their money, however that doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy ourselves. To that end the IGA are organising "A Very Cringeable Christmas" on the 11th of December. The 80s night kicks off with a live rock band in the Living Room on Cathal Brugha Street in Dublin at 8pm (live set at 9pm or so) and then on to Fibbers with a DJ until late. The cover charge is EUR5 and all of the proceeds go to charity.

For those of you in Cork interested in historical games there is a new site that you may wish to look at: www.corkgaming.com. The site currently contains initial information about a DBM competition due to be held as part of Warpcon XV.

Well, another Gaelcon over and deeper in debt. However it was all well worth it and it really would seem that people had a damn good time.
Plus of course lots and lots of people set out their stall for the coming year of conventions, so there's news a plenty. First off a reminder about Vaticon X 1/2. This one day event is taking place in the Student Centre in UCD on the 28th of November of this year.
Into 2005 Warpcon will be taking place on the 21st to the 23rd of January. Their website is still talking about 2004, but hopefully they'll update that soon. The con will once again be taking place in the Student Centre in University College Cork.
Leprecon have yet to announce their dates, but they have confirmed it will be around the end of February.
Both Dominicon and Itzacon Eire are still on the same weekend, that's the 11th - 13th of March.
As I haven't mentioned it previously; Sillicon will be taking place in the Hub in Dublin City University on the 1st - 3rd of April. Again, their website references 2004, but we once again hope that is not a long term thing.
Vaticon XI will be happening sometime in early June with Qcon taking place in Belfast at the end of the month.
We do know that Icon will be happening this year, again, more details when we have them.

It is with some disappointment that I have to announce that Dominicon and Itzacon will be clashing in 2005. Despite great efforts on behalf of both committees it doesn't look like the dates could be changed, so March 11th - 13th will have two cons to choose from, one in Maynooth, one in Galway.
And in other news. Gaelcon!. This weekend, the Gresham Hotel, O'Connell Street, Dublin. Doors open at 10am.
